Fall Festivals

by | |
School has started back in session and the leaves are starting to turn. That means Fall Festivals are upon us!

We get a lot of requests from groups asking, "What are some good products to sell at our Fall Festival?" There's no right answer! Hats sell great to adults and swords are popular with children, so think about your patrons and what they would like to buy.

The best approach we've found is to buy different "levels" of items - have some low, medium, and higher-priced items. Also, we suggest having a manageable amount of offerings. (We'd love for you to buy everything on our site, but it would be easier for YOU, as a vendor, to stick with just a few items.)

Since Fall Festivals are usually family events, consider selling items in pairs or packs. "Two for Five" might consist of a necklace and a pair of sunglasses or two necklaces (to be split between children). Depending on the size of the crowd, making change might be more time-consuming than you'd like, so it's easier to stick with items that you can sell for $1, $5, or $10.

LED and glow items sell BEST when it's dark outside. If your Fall Festival is held at dusk or during the daytime, see if there's some place inside or a room where you could turn the lights off and black out the windows.

In addition to vending glow items, you may also want to offer glow games. Some of our favorites utilize inexpensive glow necklaces or bracelets - and you can give the extra necklaces away as prizes!

Here are some popular festival games for your "glow room":

1. Hopscotch (ages K-2nd grade). What you'll need - 1 tube of glow necklaces, activated and spaced out in a hopscotch pattern.

2. Bowling (ages K - 5th grade). What you'll need - 10 soft-drink bottles (clean and without the label), 10 - 6" glowsticks, small basketball. Fill the soft drink bottles with water, drop in a 6" glowstick, and set up in a traditional bowling pin formation. Use a small basketball or other similarly weighted ball to knock down the pins. See if you can get a STRIKE!

3. Ring Toss (ages K - 5th grade). What you'll need - 1 tube of glow necklaces, dowel rod or garden stake. Place the garden stake in the ground and attach a glow necklace to it (so players can find their target). Use glow necklaces as the ring for the ring toss!
